INTENT
AND CONTENT OF THE BOOK
I've written this manual
to give the technical
community a guide with which to work in their engineering
analysis
and design of the engines.
To that end, the
solutions of the engine design
problems are rigorously handled in great detail.
[While doing the]
engineering, you might
want to add a few more terms to the various expansions used in the
manual.
With the manual,
designers, using their preferred
computer tools, should be able to investigate the FRE [Frasca Rotary
Engine] operating characteristics to their own
satisfaction.
This manual is also
intended for people with
a technical background but no direct design experience in the engine or
pump fields.
It is also written for
the technically
oriented students, and the technically competent curious.
Therefore, each section
of the manual, which
requires in the reader a solid understanding of the underlying
scientific
and engineering relationships used in its discussion, includes a short,
reasonably thorough, review of the cogent technical background material.
These reviews are
included to reacquaint the
reader with material they've likely seen before albeit as part of their
remote past studies and for students and others who may or may not
otherwise
be familiar with the material; e.g. thermodynamics, gas transport,
combustion
processes, hydrodynamics.
